New members / credit prize pool

Post by sledge4 »

If anyone knows someone looking for a new residency, even if just looking to move a small group of stables, please recommend them to join here.

We have been trending UP in the credits we are earning recently, and would like to increase the TOTM prize pot (and/or add more than 3 winners), but need to see the credits slide up a little more. Would even consider upping the weekly Longshot Luck.

I'll send credits to anyone who recommends any new members.

Questions, let me know.

Thanks,
Will

Share with me more specifics. Happy to make updates, but always wonder the balance between people who actually use the "website" vs just going directly to the forum. There isn't much "day to day" content on the website itself.

None of the contest or standings are on the front page from talking to others thats what they look for when checking out a club also Tom or I are not even in the Residencies names most on there havent raced in a long time and people see this.

The flashest package gets opened first ! when I started playing again 3 years ago I couldnt even tell if the NWRC was still running. Now think if you were a Newbie and looking at clubs to join what would you be looking for ?

Think out of the Box !
Another thing I was thinking about was to add stables for free Horses to newcomers and post it( I can help with This) , Lets add tracks over seas I think this will bring a few. Maybe pick another club in the game and have races against them ( I will help pay for them)

"There isn't much "day to day" content on the website itself" it doesnt have to be day to day, most on there is years old! Remember the old website ! lets put records on there and past winners of NWRC races, upcoming events for the NWRC and other races. I know we talk on this forum but lets put a Q & A section on there and make it a point to post on it. You , Roys , Ron, Terrel and Tom all have a lot of Knowledge on this Game lets get together and use it!

Look at the page of Residencies 90% of them no long exist due to lack of intrest to the page. I am not a web designer but I will help out when ever asked for this would mean a lot more time spent on this, but I think it would be a lot more fun. I have been asked to join other clubs But The NWRC will always be my home in Sim as long as it still is running and I am. When one of my horses gets a write up I always make sure that the NWRC is in it and my silks have NWRC on them. I was a Successful Business man in RL and now retired These little things mean a lot if what you want to do is become a elite Club.

Just a few ideas I hope I didnt over step. I love this game and its people and I am here if you need me.

NWRC Stakes & Graded winners

Will if you want to copy this page and put on your server its up to you or you can just link it I will update it weekly if there is any interest.

If there is anything else I can help with it will be no problem

Appreciate the feedback. Believe it or not, I'm a web developer by profession. I just don't have the resources on hand since the game switched to this new version to keep it updated as most of the data is hardcoded (not dynamically pulled from game files) and I don't have the time like I used to years ago to make these type of manual updates. The old game was actually easier for me to pull data as there were a variety of member created programs ("apps") that pull any data you want with a click of a button using the old raceout files.

As such, my focus is solely on the forum these past few years and ensuring I have contests available and reward our loyal members as best I can.

If I can somehow get more dynamically generated content like what Jacklad just did for graded winners or the TOTM, I can change the site towards showing that.

I can have the site be the best looking residency around, but if I don't have the content to update, what's the point? I guess it's a balance when I am trying to also get more membership.

I'm hopeful that spreading the word to tell people we are around will spur membership increase and in doing so, it's more meaningful to provide a full experience on the web side.

PS - I'm actually working with Mike to make updates to the derbyfever site/layout (shhh!) haha!

OK here would be 2 easy to run and score contests.

Claiming Contest.
Would run from 1st April to December 26th(last Sat of year)
Claim horse then runs no sooner than 1st April.
It would be scored on earnings from all races it runs in. (minus what it had earned before you claimed)
If the horse is a dud then claim another but you would then be starting from scratch losing any earnings you had with previous horse.

State bred 3yo Contest.
Pick a State i.e texas (any NWRC track works)
You would then breed a 3yo scratchbred using sire from that state i.e. texas.
Would run from 1st April to December 26th(last Sat of year)
It would be scored on earnings from all races it runs in.

Because the scores would be taken from horses page any races count i.e. hot and local.
