Northwest Racing Circuit

A few weeks ago I was just looking to add new blood to one of my stables and I didn't want to spend time looking around for bloodlines, so I decided to hit the "What the heck!" box and take a randomly bred horse.

Well, it gave me the following horse: 153698

I'm not saying it's a world-beater or that it's best races are still to come...but for about 100 credits, the horse already made back 1/2 it's value in BP's and is about a 1/2 furlong from being 2 for 2.

Does anyone else have any success using this method for breeding? Just curious if it's worth the risk or if this is the exception more than the rule. Because if I can turn 100 bps/credits into a profit regularly, it might be something worth looking at.

I've never done it, but it certainly worked out well for you in that instance. Could be a nice horse in the making there.

Just think of the bps you would have earned if you had dropped that horse in for a claim first time out.

I have "What The heck-ed" a few of times and have had a couple of msw/allowance wins but nothing to write home about. I also found, (maybe wear and tear initiated), that the wheels seemed to fall off quicker with them and when you expect them to thrive, they seem to drop away and soon end up in claimers. Certainly hope that does not happen with yours Will.

I know the infamous Pye uses random breeding a lot, probably more than any other player in the sim ... if you see a "S R ......" horse, that is one of Pye's "What The Heck-ers" and he has had a fair bit of success, probably more so from the ratio of random he breeds.

Now of the randoms I have bred, these seem to be the "better" ones ...

MESH MASTER(FR)

NIKERO BACK(ARG)

RANDOM PLOY(JPN)

SO SURPRISE ME(TUR)

Probably a few others in my ranks worth noting, but as I said earlier, nothing too much to set the sim world alight.
