A friendly thank you and gesture!

Post by sledge4 »

Just wanted to pass along my thanks to the folks who do show up week to week. I know things are slow around here, but it's not because I don't care.

My daughter plays AAU basketball on an "elite" travel team, plus I coach a second team. Both of these teams play in tournaments locally and throughout the Northeast. I've literally had no weekends since March to do anything other than be in a gym and/or hotel. This also includes 2-3 week nights of practices between the 2 teams, so I have little weeknight time to do stuff either. Plus mix in the baseball games for my son, it's a scheduling nightmare. HAHA!! Not at all are these complaints, as I love coaching and watching my kids play, but I thought it may shed some light if anyone was wondering. I've always said to myself that nothing will take priority over watching my kids do what they enjoy as at some point it will all come to an end.

However, that is winding down in the next couple weeks. So more time will open.

As a thank you....I will give out 100 credits to any resident who posts on the MB in the next week from this post. Is it a big make or break payout...no, but it's an appreciation gift.

Thanks,
Will

I totally understand Will. Your kids should always take priority in life and I don't think anyone will fault you for that. You are making a nice gesture, but I would rather you take the 100 credits that you would send me and put them towards running the Cavalcade Cup again. I know things in the SIM were kind of out of sorts last fall with the changes that were made and everyone getting used to the new features of the game. Hopefully this year we can bring back the Cavalcade Cup again.

The Cavalcade Cup has always been my favorite competition that we run. Not everyone is fortunate to have one of the best horses in the SIM that can compete in the Breeder's Bowl. This gives all of the NWRC residents the opportunity to show off their best horses. It has always been a lot of fun. I will gladly help in anyway I can.

Terrel - The team I coach is decent. I don't have a kid on the team, these girls needed a place to play and no other coach stepped up.

The Cavalcade Cup was fun, but we had a dozen or so active members, so it was easy to fill fields.

I suppose we can try a reduced card and see what happens.

Man that's awesome quality time with the kids :). I think everyone understands life can get busy. I as well put in my vote for another shot @ the Cavalcade Cup. Most of my horses are 2 year olds this year but I have a couple that might make for an interesting field :)

I'd gladly bring back the Cavalcade Cup. The new game will make it cheaper, that's for sure. However, I would still need to get donations as I usually do. I may be able to hit Mike up for a discount as well.

Right now for 14 races, the cost would be about 10,000, which is after a 50% discount if we purchase early.

This is for a restricted stakes classification.

I totally understand that you've had no time. I also think that it's good that you travel everywhere with them. It shows that you are a great dad, and you love your kids very much. Remember not to overwork yourself, and if you have no time for the sim, don't go on it. Your kids are more important. You do so great for the residency despite being so busy all the time. Great job.

On the matter of the Cavalcade cup; I really think that it should be run. All of my horses pretty much can't run the length of a hotel room, so they won't be running. But I know somebody who has a spectacular horse, and I think I can get him to race (he is in the residency). Thanks for all your great work, Ace. :)
