As you can see, I have added some polls looking to improve the NWRC.
Please provide your feedback and vote as well on each question.
Thanks,
Will

Hey Will and fellow NWRC-ers,
posted the following rant on a poll page, but seeing as it was not the right forum to do so in, I thought I might post it here. Not out to rattle cages, but just my thoughts that i thought i would share.
Speaking honestly here, and I hope it does not offend anyone ... if I do offend, you'll have to hunt me down
I did have major reservations about signing up at the NWRC when I set about finding homes for my stables after the demise of the CR Racers Residency. I worried about the "home" tracks and also how my stable rotation would fit within a differing system from what I was used to.
Within a month of joining I knew this was going to be a long term stay for me and my respective barns ... and after settling in and actually being semi-competitive so early on, pledged the support of several more stables.
I too get frustrated at the lack of support from members and how the same ol' names get involved in the contests Will offers up, but i am sure that it is part and parcel of residencies everywhere in the sim ... too many people have too many fingers in too many pies and just don't have the time to back up what they have signed up for. Their nonattendance makes the spoils easier to reap for the few loyal ones that do partake, so that can only be their loss, and definitely not ours!
In a nutshell ... as long as the 8 - 10 members who do take their place in the contests, who are willing to team up, who are willing to step outside their respective training schemes and comfort zones and who are willing to take up the challenges offered up by Will, if these 8-10 are collecting the spoils while the others are just here in name only, why should we worry? ... they are the ones missing out, and if they are supporting the residency, we get more from them in the form of their bp/credit haul week in and out! I see it as a win/win for the truly loyal ... rewarding those who deserve to be rewarded!!!!!
Rant over ... Peace out.

Rharfo...Pretty much agree with everything you said here. I mean, I think it would be great if a few more members decide to get active or some new active folks join; but if there is a solid group showing up consistently (as has been the case during the time since I came back), then it's a pretty enjoyable residency to be a part of from my perspective.

Thanks guys!!
I have been taking steps recently to promote the "active" members by removing the "non-active" members from contests such as Trainer of the Month and pushing them to a lower level of the divisional challenges.
I do feel that if you can't stop by every so often, or even sign-up for a forum account (we started a new forum about 6 months ago), that you shouldn't be rewarded.
The residency does enjoy the support (credits) they receive from the stables who are here in name only, which is why they are not dropped completely from the Div Challenge, but on another hand, why be here if you don't want to participate? Sort of a catch-22 for me.
I'm not saying these people should leave, and I don't require you to post 5 times a week, but i'm a big sports fan, and I coach basketball and baseball and I always say "we are as strong as our weakest link (person/player)". While it's not as relevant here because John Doe who does nothing doesn't really drag us down, it certainly doesn't raise us up.
I usually scroll other rez boards every couple weeks, just to get a fever reading on the activity and such, and there are rez's that have lesser participation then us, but that doesn't mean it's ok for us. In fact there are some more known rez's that i'm surprised people aren't leaving because you see very little activity (Minnesota). So if you know folks in these other places, please put in a good word and try to get them over here. Heck, I can be like Directv and if you refer a friend, i'll throw some credits your way.
But in the end, if we can keep 8-10 residents involved in contests, that is enough for me to feel it's worth it. But when numbers get below that, I start thinking, is it time to move on?
