How you describe yourself as a Sim Trainer. Select up to 3 choices and then explain!!
Emotional
You more emotions then knowledge to run your stables.
Sentimental
Do you keep horses too long because you like the name, sire line or won it in a contest, etc.
Serious
Use the sim as if you were a real life trainer/owner.
Laid Back/Casual
If you win...you win or if you lose...you lose and it doesn't matter your just having fun. Often miss race weeks or you don't play the claim/auction game. Just breed a couple horses a year and let it fly.
Patient
Will wait and wait and wait and wait for a horse to (hopefully) reach it's potential.
Hanger-on'er
The horse is 3 years past it's usefulness yet you keep thinking a glory return will happen or maybe your horses runs just good enough to get another race, but not quite bad enough to breed over yet.
Jumpy
Your horses running looks like this...dirt, grass, dirt, sprint, route, sprint, grass just trying to jump around to find a good race or maybe you move horses in and out because you don't have the patience to wait for the next good race.
Shit or get off the pot
Can't make a decision, keep humming and hawing! But in the end, if it doesn't produce your on to the next.
As good as your last race
Next bad race, the horse is gone.

I'm definitely sentimental. I often name horses after my kids or something close to me. And thus it makes me harder to part with the horse and in turn makes me a "hanger-on'er".
Then again, I also have patience waiting and hoping that the valuable bp's or credits I spent will eventually give me some returns.

I tend to get emotionable when I think my horse get the short end of the stick. ie: 9/5 odss and get second rate jockey, not the favorite and in the end we place second...
Sentimental about most of my stables as I tend to think they are better and they really are
Serious about my breedings and were I place my horses which sometimes leads to
Hanger-on'er which leads to having horses that should in the CPU not in my stables...
All in all even thou my wife thinks that I my be two bricks short of a load because of the amount of time and effort I put into what I thinks is the best pastime I have found since my forced retirement...I love real life horse racing and this game lets me think that I could be an owner of a breeding farm and as well a Todd Pletcher or Nick Zito and not have to spend any money doing it.
Life is great when you have something to do that you enjoy.

I am probably one of the all of the above type of sim trainers. I hate it when one of my cleverly (or so I think) named horses is slow as molasses and I have to drop, dump, or return to the CPU. I have knowledge of training but it doesn't seem to carry over well enough to do many any good. In real life there are too many places that don't have a turf course or card races at odd distances. You can try a lot more things in the Sim.
I seldom claim or use the auction because I breed enough bad ones that I would rather keep my own and just do the class drop rather than buy one of someone elses. I am not afraid of losing one in a claim and but I will admit to going looking for a lost one so I can claim it back.
All in all I hate it when I don't have anything running (it's only happened a few times) but I do believe in resting them although i do try and stagger them. Even my claimers get time off.

hmmmm, an interesting poll!
Definitely sentimental about my horses. I name many of them after people or places in my life or even horses that have been a part of my life. I tend to hang on to some of these way too long but I am going to try not to do that this year.
I am very serious about running my barns and take lots of time entering my horses. Since I don't buy races,(for anyone that has worked on the track or owned horses, that is soooo unrealistic)it takes quite awhile but is still fun after 13 years. Every Wed after races are up, I go through my entries to see what the odds are. My target is less than 10% of horses with odds 10-1 or over. This week for example I have 7/75 , which is barely acceptable.
I am very patient with my horses. I will never run a horse at less than Sharp unless it's been 7 weeks . I have always figured that the horse is telling me that he/she is not ready to race-have had very good results with this rule. I have also found that if you have a horse scheduled for a certain week and it comes up RTG you can "slide" the horse to the next week and they will come up Sharp about 95% of the time-also excellent results. As you can see I love the stats part of the game.

I think everyone develops their own training style the longer they play. For example I start new horses the same week that they arrive-doesn't seem to bother them. I used to wait until they got Sharp-no point. Of course this is only for the first start.
The sim has become a wonderful part of my life, which for awhile I didn't want to admit. Right now I am sitting here just as excited as I was the first Saturday I played the game. Lunch is almost ready-we will spend the next few hours enjoying (and sometimes getting a little angy

) the adventures of the Lilbitfarm runners for the week. May the horse be with them all. Now on to the races!! Rich and our small gang at Lilbit.

I'm the other lol.
Basically, I play this game because I wanted to learn more about horse breeding. I used to go to the track a fair bit although I must admit over the years this has declined. I know this game does not mimic real life horse racing it is only a sim, but trying out different sires you learned to like/love as a handicapper and seeing them succeed or fail is for some reason a whole lot of fun. I have played off and on for 8 or 9 years now but for the most part enter my horses pretty steadily. If life gets too busy though I take some time off, come back when things have calmed back down. As for naming horses I just like to come up with fun and original names... throw in a few little used sires and see what happens. I honestly believe that one of the main keys of making this game fun is getting a write up on your horse. I don't get a whole lot of them but when I do get a horse in a graded race I really look forward to that. The folks that do this week after week are awesome. That's my 2 bits lol
