Re: New Breeds
whats wrong with Fillys ????
I like them better ...when you bred top of the line and get a filly you have 12 more years of breeding top of the line

Re: New Breeds
I had majority of my success in the game with colts and cheap sires...….I have 3 retired mares out of idk how many that have produce stakes and group stakes winners...my latest mare just produced her first stakes winner in her second year as breeding with a 2yo filly that won a gr2 sunday on turf....capnjubal13 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 7:08 pm whats wrong with Fillys ????

my 3 top breeding mares are producing dirt and turf sprinters.....I just cant get that derby horse out of them...…
my top breeding mares sires are,,,not for love,,,speightstown,,,,star witness.....the first 2 never won stakes races but are producing gr stakes winners......the star witness mare won a gr2 stakes race on turf and now has produce a gr2 stakes turf winner......all 3 of them were cheap breeds at the time and are my best breeding mares.....I have some mares by middle tier sires that I cant get anything stakes worthy out of them and im confused by it...….so I figure since im spending money on them and knowing my history of not getting any good foals from the mares,,,i want them to be colts to keep my frustration level down in this game and maybe get a good horse as a colt if that make sense lol.....

Re: New Breeds
Just to let you know, I bred about 80% of my horses with cheap but royal blood and about 90 % of them are failures 10% make money and every once in a while I get a stakes horse . But the frustration level is low because I don't expect a lot, But when I use my BP or cash to bred an expensive horse and its a dude yeah the frustration level goes up.
Im still on the fence about when you use a breeding mare does the offspring run like the mare and sire that you have used or more like the ancestry line you have used? I have yet to see a cheap breeding mare who was a great runner turn out great running offspring, But I have seen plenty of times when a expensive mare who ran like crap produce great runners! So to get the most bang for my buck I tend to lean towards breeding the expensive line and hope for a filly to stretch my buck a bit farther. But that's playing the long game and as we all know we all want the immediate super horse!
In this game and RL we must remember even if you bred the perfect combo, it still comes down to LUCK
