Starting next week...Longshot Luck bonus!!

Greetings everyone,

We are taking Roys 'Longshot Luck' to another level. Starting next week, there will be a running jackpot to go along with the weekly 100 credit to the winner.

The pot will start at 500 credits and increment weekly based on number of entries and each week it lasts. The winner will be the 'Longshot Luck' winner who's entry surpasses a designated total dollar amount.

Right now it looks like this...
Initial Pot: 500 credits
Each Week: +25 credits
10+ entries: +25
Total Winning Amount: $25

Basically, if we get entries and no winner, the pot will rise 50 credits. The winners entry will have to total $25. For example if the horse wins, it would need to pay something like $12.00, $8.00, 5.00.

Sounds good Will, but I would like to see the dollar amount upped to a true longshot amount in excess of $40, maybe even $50 for the winning ticket.

The $25 level could be pulled off by a 7/1 runner, which, for my mind, is not a real longshot.

I would like to see the generous credit pool on offer only dished out when we see a REAL long shot get the chocolates ... I myself have been embarrassed to take the 100 credits Roys has given on my few contest wins, due to the feeble price my "winner" has dragged in.

We could all enter 7/1 odded runners week after week and the winner being decided by a few cents, where is the fun in that?

Let the bonus 500 credits really be earned and given to a worthy longshot!!! And could also see the pool grow to quite a tidy sum and make us chase the elusive longshot spoils even harder!!!

This sounds cool Will. I guess I can see the point that maybe it should be over $25, but I wouldn't go much over $30. I'm not sure there has been a winner of more than that in this contest since I got back into the game in May.

Do you mean it has to equal exactly $25.00 or anything more than $25.00?

I had 2 horses yesterday thet surpassed the $30 total (of course, I picked a completely different horse for the contest

I feel it should be a $40 or $50 total as well. If it is a "jackpot" people are after, it should be a little difficult. I have won the contest many times with horses that have paid more than $25 total.

I agree that the $25 amount is too low. I think something in the $35/$40 range would be more appropriate. for a pot like you are offering.

We will go with a total payout of $45.

This is about a 12-1 horse. I'm not trying to make it impossible to win, yet I want people to feel they have a chance at winning. If $45 is hit quickly, we'll look at making it larger next time.

The running pot total will be kept in the sticky that Roys uses to track the weekly winners.
