Alot of those residencies are really not a residency as we know them. People figured out that they could list themselves as a residency and any money scored by their stables would be elgible for the credits Mike gives the residencies based on horse earnings every week. By supporting themselves they get the credits.

Wonder if there is a way Mike can catch those players who "cheat" when creating false residencies.

And then maybe a way to encourage someone to join a residency.

I think an easy way to increase interest and the importance of residencies is to create a residency league. With a year long league and "playoffs" for the last bit to determine an overall winner. Residencies could donate a sum of money (Credits and could be large enough to keep the little guys out) and would require a minimum number of players, not stables, but players (there has to be a way to track this??). Now I'm a hockey fan, Canadian what can I do lol but set up Conferences with Divisions and points are scored on residents finishes (Just like in the Div Challenge). Winner takes most, Second place finisher takes rest as a residency. Maybe if its not too costly even setup some nice player rewards for individual stuff.

Right now the residencies in my opinion are just a place to hang out and compete against some other players. That's fun and all but I think setting something like this up would give residencies more relevance. Some residencies are also much larger than others which is a problem that would have to be figured out. (I was thinking maybe only allowing so many stables per player, or only so many stables total from all of the residents per residency) I don't know it's an idea :)

Or another way would be to run it like a hockey pool. Set up categories, Say turf wins, Dirt wins, Places etc. And whoever gets the most horses completing each of the categories per week ( the residencies would play against each other, week to week gaining wins and such for points. football poolies would know this system as well).

I reside at one other residency and they have taken the Secret Santa thing to another level by making the gifts a year long contest, where the winning trainer and breeder get prizes for topping a points table.

I think they give points for MSW, ALL, Stakes and Graded top 3 placings.

At the end of the year, the breeders are make public and prizes are given to both gift recipient and the original breeder.

Maybe the Secret Santa players could sneak across to the URC Residency and see how they ran it ... I am sure we can borrow their idea and see how it pans out????

I always thought players were only allowed to belong to one res.

A stable can only be associated with one residency.

I'm still here. :) Real life + running Comedy Central + managing the BTB + now preparing for the Eclipses + 56 barns to manage stretches my time thin. I suspect many players are in similar boats, not enough time to do it all. Before i took on so much sim stuff I had more time to play around, and that helped keep me more active at NWRC. I'll be making an effort to be more visible here as much as I am able.

I'd love to see Mike weed out the residencies that aren't "real". The million Black Mourning listings for example are ridiculous. Paring the list down to actual communities would help many newer players find new homes in the game.

Recruitment is an issue for all residencies. I see a lot of newer players who actually look like they will become long-term players are recruits from the football game, and you know Kingab has snagged them for his residency, Empire State racing. Can't blame them at all for the good recruiting job they've done, but I think other residencies might benefit from similar tactics. Position recruiters where they can do the most good - where the pol of potential new players exists.

I'm sorry I have not gotten into this but the holidays are so extremely tim :D e consuming for me that I do have very little time for extra sim activities. Once this weekend is over (I will be out of town until late Monday) I will have more to say. Rich
