Contest Thoughts

Post by sledge4 »

Without beating a dead horse, we all understand that overall activity is low and in turn that makes it hard to run contests.

So having said that, after we ran the NWRC/Minnesota contest I spoke with them about interest in maybe combining a couple contests in the new year as they have low activity as well.

It's very hard to run contests for 6 (or less) people and make it any kind of exciting. I'm almost better off just giving each person credits in place of contests.

So I ask, does anyone have complaints if we merge a couple contest with Minnesota? It doesn't mean we won't run our own contests as we always do, but it will give some of our loyal members an opportunity to have some fun.

The first contest on the table is one run by Minnesota. It's an un-raced 4yo contest. I'm waiting for more details, but it's essentially you breed a 3yo now and then run him/her when it turns 4.

Please let me know your (honest) thoughts as a residency.

Thanks,
Will

Will,

any effort to spark some life into this residency and reward the fully active members has my full support and I know that you will put the NWRC's best interests to the fore!

As long as you/we do not lose too much control of what goes on within our own rezzie walls and you/we do not lose too many of our Mike funded credits to "them", I am all for it!

An ongoing "us vs them" series would be great, but any idea that you feel will benefit us best will get my support.

Shame that we had to go down this down though, when just a little more activity from our own members would not have forced our hand!

I have no problem with combining things from time to time. So unless there is a downside I'm not seeing, it's good with me.

I think a little bit of outside competition would be great.

It is sad to see that we can't generate enough interest with our own members but if it means the contests would be more fun let's give it a shot. I totally agree with Rharfo's post about losing control and/or BP's from Mike also. If it doesn't work out at least we tried. Rich

I'm all for it. Haven't been able to play much lately school and work etc. But, I think any extra interest is a good thing. Can't hurt to run some competitions in conjunction. Even some residency versus residency competitions like sponsored Stakes races restricted to only members of those residencies. Provides another dynamic, might even spark some additional interest.
