Rich, you have no idea how much fun it was to participate! My only goal was to get around around safely, and I still beat 4 horses (2 of the 3 that beat me galloped most of the way and were DQed). Next time, i am going to win
Garnet, is that something that they have at many mini shows?? Just curious. Those little horses try pretty hard dont they! Like I said, it does look like fun and the fans seemed to enjoy it.
There are driving "classes" at every mini show in which you demonstrate the horses' walk, "working" trot, "extended" trot, and in the case of "Roadster" class, "road gait".....i.e as fast as you can trot. Some driving classes judge the horse strictly, others such as "reinsmanship" judge the driver. There are also timed obstacle courses which involve driving around pylons etc. This "race" that you watched was not at a show, rather it was in the middle of a harness racing card at Hanover Raceway in Ontario and put on for fun purposes. Had it been a real race, taken seriously, I'd have been placed 4th because 2 of the 3 horses that finished ahead of me galloped most of the way with no attempt to lose ground. Just before we leave for the National Championships in Tulsa in September I will post a link where you can see live video of the show. They even have minis pulling chariots at Nationals

What I meant was I'd have been placed 2nd...I did finish 4th.
