How many of you utilize local bred racing? I have to say, I always ignored it...until now!
I decided 2 weeks ago to breed 3 horses solely for the purposes of running them at "local" tracks based on there breeding.
Well, I ran all 3 of them last week and 2 of them won in Oregon (they were both OR bred).
Each winner netted me 50 BP's for winning a simple 2yo and 3yo MSW race. Chaaaa....ching!!!
This has sold me on trying local breds, especially ones in smaller states such as Oregon. Hey Grindstone resides there and he is a very nice sire. One of those horses he fathered.
Here are the two winners:
Youaskedforit(OR) - 65119
Sunday Grind(OR) - 65651
Going forward I'm going to focus the rez more towards local racing. We have 20 tracks including California, so it's not like we are playing with slim pickings.
All new bred prize horses will be from various NWRC tracks. Then you can make the decision to keep it local to it's breeding or not.
I'll also try to focus more on local bred contests. If you have an idea for such a contest please let me know.

Re: Local bred racing
You have been missing out!!!
I created a stable about a year ago with the sole purpose of racing Canadian bred horses in BC & Ontario and have enjoyed great success
Elitecavlo stable has a record of 76 - 17 - 20 - 20 this year and 1403 BP's in strictly (CAN) bred races, and most of the slugs I have been running couldn't hit the top 5 in the worst open races in the sim
Congrats on opening up a new gameplan

Dabble when I can, but is not a "plan", per say.
Seems the few i do run get claimed away, but then if I have them in claim, they are for sale.
Might look a little harder in future, based on your two guys success.

Re: Local bred racing
I had the idea awhile ago of getting a stable and just putting NY breds into it. Than I did some research and found out there is no way to race these horses on a regular basis--the races for them are very random and on no kind of schedule-so I dumped the idea. These posts have gotten me interested again. I think I'll take a look at the local bred schedule--is their one??????? Rich
Re: Local bred racing
Hmmm, i'll see if I can dig up a local bred schedule.
