Here's a thought...what if I gave every stable credits based on how they did each divisional challenge? Let's just say for example stable 'kobras' earned 250 points in the last quarter of 2010.
What if I awarded 5%-10% payback as payout for each point your stable earns?
So using my example, I would pay kobras owner 12 to 25 credits for that stable.
The minimum amount a resident/stable would earn is 5%, but the more stables you get, the higher the %. Maybe other "bonuses" could be added based on participation (MB posts, contests, etc).
Say you have 20 stables, then you get the full 10% payback. So if you have 20 stables here and they earn an average of say 100 credits per stable. You would get 200 credits (20 x 100 x 10%).
Does this make any sense? If so, does that make anyone want to add more stables or run at more NWRC tracks? Because the more credits you earn or stables you house, the more "free" credits you earn.
I think this would replace the current prize structure, except maybe the top earned in each division gets a free horse.
For the record, stables earned just over 30,000 credits during the last quarter. So if I paid out the max 10% to everyone, NWRC would be on the hook for 3000 credits. Currently we payout just over 1900 credits, not counting the prize horses.
Thoughts? Is this stupid?
Just trying to think outside the box here to get interest.

Not sure about this idea to be honest Will ... unless it makes things easier for you and more cost effective for the residency, I would prefer to see the status-quo remain.
I think this could open the door and go down the same road as other "credit for performance" schemes that have irked me some for a while ... no offense to the idea creators of such schemes, but am pretty sure that the credits gifted by Mike for residency success, were supposed to be used in a more beneficial manner for the entire residency ... not just split and returned back to players.
I could always use more credits, but am not sure this is the way to achieve them.
Just my thoughts.

Like anyone else - I would love to earn more credits (I seem to give away as many or more than I earn - HA! I better start writing again) but........ I only have a few stables and the most I have at any residency is two (I belong to four). I used to have 20 + stables but I have been in the game a long time and I couldn't keep up. I gave most of my stables away and have just as much fun with the very few I have left.

I prefer the current set up; but commend you for coming up with new ideas.

I'm with everyone above. It's not a bad idea but I don't like the idea of having to "pay" players for running at our member tracks. Will, I know that as always you are trying to come up with new ideas (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO TO KEEP NWRC AFLOAT) but I would rather see the credits going into prize horses and more contests.
Re: Pay YOU for credits for what your stables earn at NWRC?
I'm with everybody else here Will. Good idea and I understand why you are thinking it but for me the current structure is fine. How about my idea of a contest like a football/hockey pool. Players could play against each other weekly scoring points by outperforming their counterparts in a series of categories. So set up say 11 Categories should be an odd number to try and prevent ties. A win category, place category, speed figure over 100 category maybe even a category for horses run at NWRC tracks. A player would have to choose 5 horses that are running at any track but as mentioned above we could have a category for whoever runs the most of their 5 horses that week at a NWRC track so there's still incentive to run at our tracks. Each week the points are tallied up and stats are kept. We could even have a playoff format. Don't know how much interest there would be in this but I could create a rules/contest format and see what people think if there is any interest at all???

Nag, I like the idea for the existing resident base. So feel free to send me a PM with your contest idea/rules, and we'll get that going.
On a seperate note, we need to run simple or quick contests that are easy to earn rewards with, which I think will attract new residents.

I think you're mixing bps and credits. NWRC earned 15532 bps in the last 4 weeks, so approximately 47000 in the last 3 months. That's 5800 credits (BPs earned/8 = credits, for those who don't know how that is determined). I didn't check how many credits have actually been received in the last quarter, but it cant have been anywhere near 30k.
Re: Pay YOU for credits for what your stables earn at NWRC?
30k is the total points earned in the divisional challenge. I mispoke, it's actually not BP's or Credit's. It's just the points earned in that contest.
Does that change anyone's minds?

I would have to disagree on the quick contests, at least from my viewpoint--I know the longer contests are more interesting to me. I was thinking today that the 7 weeks of the 2 man are a little short. Just when you start getting into it, it's over. That's just my opinion. I don't know about everybody else but I don't enter contests just to win, I enter for the fun of the contest. I'd be interested in other's opinions. Rich
